QUETTA: Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) leader Abdul Quddus Bizenjo has on Monday stated that the number of legislators voting in favour of the no-confidence motion against Chief Minister (CM) Sanaullah Zehri will go up to 40.
He added that even Changez Marri, a legislator from the ruling party Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) had announced support for the motion.
Meanwhile, Sanaullah Zehri has dismissed the claims from the opposition, saying that they couldn’t even bring 20 members of the assembly (out of total 65) to the dinner they had arranged to show their strength.
However, Zehri on Sunday contacted PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and asked him to weigh in on the matter. Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan and coalition partner Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (Pk-MAP) chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai called on the Balochistan CM and assured him of their support.
The no-confidence motion had been moved in the provincial assembly against the leader of the house on January 2 and was signed by 14 members at that time. However, the number has reached at least 20, as admitted by CM himself in a recent statement.
Important ministers including Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti and Labour Minister Rahat Jamali while former advisors Abdul Majid Abro and Prince Ahmad Ali are also among the dissenters. It is pertinent to mention here that another minister from PML-Q Jaffar Mandokhel also resigned on Sunday.
PM Nawaz Sharif had on Sunday termed the crisis a part of the attempt to bring down the system ahead of the Senate elections.
