ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced that it will hold a long march on December 10 to demand merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The long march will set off from Khyber Pass, which will culminate in the federal capital.
Voicing reservation about the recent national census, the JI has called for a review of the statistics pertaining to the tribal areas.
Apart from the JI, other political parties, including the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Awami National Party (ANP), have also backed the merger of FATA and KP.
The JI had long been demanding the authorities concerned to merge FATA with KP to ensure that tribal people get rights on a par with those being enjoyed by the rest of the countrymen.
The JI had time and again called for the merger of FATA with KP before the upcoming general election.
