LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) celebrated the 90th birthday of its founding father Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto on Friday.
PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari cut a cake to mark the birthday of his grandfather.
Earlier, PPP Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari addressed a rally in Mirpurkhas, conducted by PPP “Jialas” to show their love for Bhutto.
At this occasion, Zardari asserted that PPP’s ideology was given to it by Bhutto.
“PPP is the party of labourers; of the poor and down-trodden masses. This is what Bhutto taught. You have to fight for your right. We [the leaders] go to the people, people shouldn’t come to us,” said the party’s co-chairperson.
Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was born on January 5, 1928, in Larkana. He held prime minister office from 1973 to 1977.
In July 1977, General Zia-ul-Haq dismissed the Bhutto’s government. Zia was also perceived to be involved in the controversial decision against Bhutto, leading to his hanging on April 4, 1979.
