LAHORE: Markets and educational institutions remained closed for the second day in Kasur as citizens observe shutter down strike against the brutal killing of seven-year-old girl Zainab after rape.
Protests and riots, that originally first took place in Kasur, have gradually spread to other parts of the country as well with people demanding justice for the victim.
Enraged protesters besieged the civil hospital and chanted slogans against the administration while also blocking the traffic.
High court bar association in Islamabad also announced strike and condemned the incident. The lawyers will not be attending the judicial proceedings today.
In Peshawar, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) women wing held demonstrations outside Press Club against Zainab’s murder and demanded early detention of the suspect.
In Faisalabad, the locals blocked district council chowk and staged a protest. In Karachi school-going children held banners which read ‘I am Zainab’.
